The Catholic Diocese of Rajkot stretches over the northwestern part of India, which is the peninsula of Saurashtra and Kutch. By the Papal Bull De Recta Fidelium of Pope Paul VI the Catholic Diocese of Rajkot came into being on 25 Feb, 1977. It comprises the civil districts of Amreli, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Porbandar, Rajkot and Surendranagar, jointly known popularly as Saurashtra and the district of Kutch in Gujarat State.
Taking in to account the provisions of The Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 for administering various charitable activities of the church organisations, various trusts and societies are registered in different Districts.
On 15 August 2015, Bishop of Rajkot established a separate legal department to support various Diocesan Organisations especially in their legal compliances. As the department is expected provide legal and management support to legal entities of the Diocese the word LeMan used. Fr. Thoams Mathew (MSW, LLM - Advocate) was appointed the first director of the department.
LeMan provides Legal, Administrative and Management Assistance to our Member Organisations. The Member Organisations are independent legal entities registered under the Trust/ Society/ Company Acts. The assistance provided by us is to help the members to adhere to the rules and regulations of the central, state governments and its various departments. Members are provided with latest updates on amendments in different laws, various rules and regulations, statutory compliances etc...
LeMan is a common platform for its Member Organisations, to build their administrative and management capacities, to address common issues, to share their best practices, prepare and implement various policies and service rules. This is also a platform to upload the annual reports and statutory compliance reports.
LeMan is not directly or indirectly involved in the administration of any of the Member Organisations. Management of events, programmes, schemes and other activities are the matters of the management of the Member Organisations. LeMan is not libel, responsible or answerable to anyone for any of the management matters of the Member Organisations. Suggestions, Requests Comments and grievances are to be addressed directly to the management concerned. LeMan office or its officers shall not be held responsible in any manner for the erroneous acts done by Member Organisations or its officers.
